The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment for the relicense of Northern States Power Company's 1.65-megawatt Superior Falls Hydroelectric Project No. 2610, located on the Montreal River in Gogebic County, Michigan and Iron County, Wisconsin. Northern States Power filed the relicense application on December 30, 2022. FERC staff issued a Ready for Environmental Analysis notice on October 10, 2024, and determined the project does not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the human environment, triggering an EA rather than a full EIS. The EA is targeted for issuance by December 23, 2025.12
