The Rural Utilities Service (RUS), USDA Rural Development, is proposing to adopt the Final Environmental Impact Statement prepared by FERC for the Sweetheart Lake Hydroelectric Project (FERC Project No. 13563-003) under CEQ EIS adoption provisions (40 CFR 1506.3). The project is located on Lower Sweetheart Lake and Sweetheart Creek in the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska, occupying 2,058.24 acres of Tongass National Forest and 131.18 acres of state tidelands. It would generate approximately 116,000 megawatt-hours annually. RUS is deciding whether to provide funding through the Electric Infrastructure Loan and Loan Guarantee Program and finds the 2016 FERC analysis still current and sufficient.
