The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service received an application from Tri-State II Solar Project, LLC for a 10-year incidental take permit (ITP) under the Endangered Species Act to take three eastern indigo snakes and one nest incidental to construction and operation of a solar facility on a 788-acre parcel in Decatur County, Georgia, approximately 3 miles northwest of Bainbridge. The facility would convert roughly 600 acres of occupied habitat. The Service preliminarily determined the action qualifies as low effect and may be eligible for a categorical exclusion under NEPA. Mitigation consists of a $157,500 contribution to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida's Eastern Indigo Snake Conservation Fund. Public comments are due November 20, 2024.1
