The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposes to issue a one-year Incidental Harassment Authorization (IHA) under the Marine Mammal Protection Act to Trident Seafoods Corporation for pile driving and marine construction at a crew bunkhouse dock on Near Island Channel in Kodiak, Alaska, between March 2025 and February 2026. The project involves installation and removal of steel and timber piles over 55 nonconsecutive days. FWS estimates up to 3,160 takes of 460 individual northern sea otters from the threatened Southwest Alaska stock by Level B harassment; no Level A or lethal take is anticipated or authorized. A draft environmental assessment accompanies the proposed IHA. Public comments are due by June 9, 2025.12
