Northern Natural Gas Company filed an application with FERC on March 2, 2026, under Docket No. CP26-130-000, seeking authorization to construct, operate, and abandon natural gas pipeline facilities in Iowa and Minnesota. The V2F Project would abandon in place 131 miles of aging 16-inch-diameter pipeline from Ventura, Iowa, to Farmington, Minnesota, replacing lost capacity with roughly 18 miles of new 36-inch and 30-inch pipeline in three Minnesota counties. The NL27 Project would add 28.5 miles of pipeline extensions, a compressor station uprate, and associated facilities across eleven Minnesota counties, providing an additional 79,303 dekatherms per day of incremental firm service. FERC intends to prepare an Environmental Assessment, scheduled for issuance on October 2, 2026, with a 30-day comment period and a federal authorization decision deadline of December 31, 2026.1
