The Department of the Air Force issued a Notice of Intent on May 21, 2026 to prepare an EIS for basing a KC-46A Pegasus squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County, Michigan. The proposed action would replace the current eight KC-135T Stratotanker aircraft with up to eight KC-46 aircraft, requiring facility improvements and construction. The EIS will also evaluate an alternative basing of up to 12 KC-46 aircraft and a No Action Alternative. Potential significant impacts include aircraft noise, air quality, and land use, and the proposed action has the potential to be located within a floodplain.
