The Bureau of Reclamation issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS for the Verde Reservoirs Sediment Mitigation Project (VRSMP) in Maricopa and Yavapai Counties, Arizona. The project is a feasibility study authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to restore lost storage capacity at Horseshoe Reservoir, where sedimentation has eliminated roughly 36,000 acre-feet of the original 144,030 acre-feet capacity, and to address future water supply resiliency for the Salt River Federal Reclamation Project. Four preliminary alternatives are under consideration, including two new Bartlett Dam expansion options, a non-structural dredging plan, and No Action. The Salt River Project (SRP) is the non-federal cost-share partner. Scoping comments are due August 11, 2025.12
