The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the New York Power Authority's application to relicense the 11.8-megawatt Vischer Ferry Hydroelectric Project (No. 4679) on the Mohawk River in Saratoga and Schenectady Counties, New York. NYPA filed the relicense application on May 25, 2022. FERC staff determined the project is not expected to constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the human environment, so an EA rather than a full EIS will be prepared. The EA is targeted for issuance by May 25, 2026, with a 30-day public comment period to follow.12
