The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announces receipt of a 10-year incidental take permit (ITP) application from Vivek Investment Corporation (Watersong Phase III) for a residential development on approximately 103 acres in Polk County, Florida. The project would convert 1.82 acres of occupied habitat for the federally threatened sand skink and bluetail mole skink. The Service has preliminarily determined the action qualifies as low effect and may be eligible for a categorical exclusion under NEPA. Mitigation requires purchasing 3.62 acres of conservation bank credits before any ground disturbance. Comments are due July 24, 2024.
