The NRC issued an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for a proposed amendment to Facility Operating License No. NPF-90, held by Tennessee Valley Authority for Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Unit 1, in Rhea County, Tennessee. The amendment would extend the license expiration date from November 9, 2035, to February 7, 2036, allowing TVA to recapture 90 days during which the plant operated at low power. The NRC evaluated two alternatives (the proposed action and no-action denial) and concluded the 90-day extension involves no plant modifications, no increase in licensed power, no significant change in effluents or radiation exposure, and no significant effect on the human environment, therefore warranting a FONSI rather than a full EIS.12
