Enable Mississippi River Transmission, LLC; Notice of Availability of the Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Ameren-Emrt Big Hollow Project

FERC has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Ameren-EMRT Big Hollow Project, proposed by Enable Mississippi River Transmission, LLC (EMRT) under Docket No. CP26-2-000. EMRT requests authorization to construct and operate an approximately 9.6-mile, 20-inch-diameter natural gas lateral pipeline from Monroe County, Illinois to Jefferson County, Missouri, plus a measurement and regulation station and appurtenant facilities, to deliver about 200,000 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to Ameren's Big Hollow Energy Center at the site of the retired Rush Island Energy Center. The EA concludes the project would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment. Comments are due by May 11, 2026.

FERC has announced its schedule to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Ameren–EMRT Big Hollow Project (Docket No. CP26–2–000), a natural gas pipeline proposed by Enable Mississippi River Transmission, LLC. The project consists of a 9.6-mile, 20-inch-diameter lateral pipeline from Monroe County, Illinois to Jefferson County, Missouri, along with a measurement and regulation station, to supply approximately 200,000 million standard cubic feet per day to Ameren Missouri's new gas-fired plant at the Big Hollow Energy Center. The EA is scheduled for issuance on April 10, 2026, followed by a 30-day comment period, with a federal authorization decision deadline of July 9, 2026. Scoping comments raised concerns about air emissions, noise, and impacts to Illinois Nature Preserve Commission-protected lands.
