The NRC, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as cooperating agency, has issued a final supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) for Tennessee Valley Authority's application for a construction permit for one GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactor at the Clinch River Nuclear Site, Unit 1, in Roane County, Tennessee. TVA submitted the construction permit application in April and May 2025; the draft SEIS was published November 7, 2025, with comments accepted through December 22, 2025. The final SEIS recommends, absent safety issues, that the NRC issue the requested construction permit, finding no environmentally preferable alternative to the proposed action.1234
