The NRC issued an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for exemptions requested by Constellation Energy Generation LLC for Dresden Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), Units 2 and 3, in Grundy County, Illinois. The exemptions would allow Constellation to withdraw up to $20 million per unit from the DNPS decommissioning trust funds (DTFs) before permanent plant shutdown to dispose of retired major radioactive components (steam dryers) and to demolish and dispose of the mausoleum storing those components. The NRC concluded the action involves only financial regulatory requirements and has no significant radiological or non-radiological environmental impacts.123
