The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission intends to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the surrender of the hydropower exemption held by Glencoe Mill, LLC for Project No. 7404 on the Haw River in Alamance County, North Carolina. The project has not operated in three years, has been disconnected from the power grid, and the exemptee determined repair was not financially feasible. Preservation North Carolina owns the dam and mill race and is considering dam removal in cooperation with American Rivers. The EA is expected by September 14, 2026, and will be issued for a 30-day public comment period.1234
