The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued Construction Permit No. CPAR–1 to US SFR Owner, LLC (USO) on March 9, 2026, authorizing construction of the Kemmerer Power Station Unit 1 sodium-cooled fast reactor in Lincoln County, Wyoming. The CP application was filed by TerraPower, LLC on behalf of USO. The NRC prepared a Final Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG–2268, October 2025) and a Safety Evaluation, and the Commission issued its ROD via Memorandum and Order CLI-26-5 on March 4, 2026. This Federal Register notice announces the CP issuance and identifies associated ADAMS documents; it does not contain a full impact analysis.

US SFR Owner, LLC; Kemmerer Power Station, Unit 1; Final Environmental Impact Statement

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy, has issued the final Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG-2268) for a construction permit application by US SFR Owner, LLC (a TerraPower subsidiary) to build the Kemmerer Power Station, Unit 1, a 840-megawatt thermal sodium-cooled fast Natrium advanced reactor with molten salt energy storage (up to 500 MWe net) in Lincoln County, Wyoming. The final EIS evaluates the proposed action and alternatives, concludes no environmentally preferable alternative to the proposed action was identified, and recommends issuance of the construction permit unless safety issues require otherwise.
