The USDA Forest Service is preparing a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the Pilgrim Creek Timber Sale Project on the Cabinet Ranger District of the Kootenai National Forest in Montana. The SEIS updates assumptions about closed road barrier effectiveness using current monitoring data and incorporates results of Endangered Species Act consultation ordered by a 2019 federal court decision. The proposed action would complete activities authorized by the May 2013 Record of Decision, including timber harvest on approximately 219 acres, prescribed burning on approximately 4,564 acres, and road storage measures. The original EIS analyzed five alternatives; Alternative 3 remains the preferred alternative. The draft SEIS is expected in November 2025 with a 45-day comment period; the final SEIS is expected in November 2026.1234
