FERC has issued a Notice of Schedule for the preparation of an Environmental Assessment for the Viola Project, a proposed natural gas pipeline and compressor facility in Sumner County, Kansas. Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. applied on January 21, 2026, for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to construct approximately 19.33 miles of 16-inch natural gas pipeline, the Wellington Compressor Station (12,375 hp), a mainline valve, and a meter station to deliver up to 116,296 dekatherms per day to the 710-megawatt Evergy Viola Plant.
